ALOHA
Much has happened since I last wrote to
all of you. Sorry for being such a slacker... A new year is upon us with
happiness and a great fresh start. Elder Lazarus and I are still doing great
together in Nephi. We absolutely love it here and we love the people like they
are our family. We have been fed more than our fill this holiday season. The
people love to feed the missionaries and it seemed like every night there was a
new "treat" left on our doorstep by a secret Santa. To begin I will
tell you about some of the best things that have happened to me. They are my
investigators!!
Javier Martinez is one of my favorite
people ever! He is a Mexican who is married to a less-active member. Javier has
not let the missionaries in for a long time. He has not been very religious or
sought a relationship with God. Some events in his life have led him to be
humbled. His brother in Mexico has been missing for 6 months and he and his mom
both think that he is dead. He says the situation down in Mexico is very bad
and that the police will not do anything to find his brother. Since we have
been teaching him he has begun to open up to us. We invited him to go to church
and he loved it! His kids Angelica (5) Dante (3), and Donovan (10 months) loved
it as well. He said that he wants to keep going and to become a member of our
church. He makes us amazing Mexican food every time we come over and it is very
spicy and good. His wife Angelica and him decided that they want Donovan to be
blessed next Sunday they invited us to join in doing it. We were so happy and
feel so blessed to have found this family. They make me smile every time I
enter their home. Javier is the most humble man I have ever met and wants to
work hard to support his family and now he knows that God can help him do that!
Tawnee is also another one of my
favorite people. She has had a very tough life and has found the great love of
one of the member families in town. The first lesson that we had with her was
very spiritual and we put her on date. Since she has been a little worried
about getting baptized because she is pregnant.
It has been an amazing week filled with
miracles. I love my mission and the growth that it brings I have felt so much
love and support. I love all of you have a great week!
